  17. DEFINE COORDINATES OF VIDEO VOICE WINDOW
  18. PREFIX d w window-number ENTER
  19.  
  20.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by unshifted-"d" key (for
  21. DEFINE), followed by the unshifted-"w" key (for WINDOW),
  22. followed by a top row number key from "1" through "9",
  23. followed by the ENTER key to choose the Video Voice window
  24. that you want to define.  In response to the prompt, enter a
  25. number from "1" through "25" using the top row number keys,
  26. followed by the ENTER key to define the top row of the new
  27. Video Voice window. In response to the prompt, enter a number
  28. from "1" through "80" using the top row number keys, followed
  29. by the ENTER key to define the left most column of the new
  30. Video Voice window.  In response to the prompt, enter a
  31. number from "1" through "25" using the top row number keys,
  32. followed by the ENTER key to define the bottom row of the new
  33. Video Voice window.  In response to the prompt, enter a
  34. number from "1" through "80" using the top row number keys,
  35. followed by the ENTER key to define the right most column of
  36. the new Video Voice window.  Lastly, in response to the
  37. prompt, type in a name, with a maximum length of 40
  38. characters, for the window you have defined and press the
  39. ENTER key.  Video Voice will now speak a status report
  40. describing the window you just defined.
  41.      While defining a window, press the ESCAPE key to abort. 
  42. Window "0" is always the whole screen.
  43.  
  44. DEFINE MARKER
  45. PREFIX d m marker-number ENTER
  46.  
  47.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the unshifted-"d" key
  48. (for DEFINE), followed by the unshifted-"m" key (for MARKER),
  49. followed by a top row number key from "0" through "9",
  50. followed by the ENTER key to cause a marker to be set at the
  51. current Review Mode cursor location.
  52.  
  53. DEFINE NEW PREFIX
  54. PREFIX d p New_Prefix ENTER
  55.  
  56.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the unshifted-"d" key
  57. (for DEFINE), followed by the unshifted-"p" key for PREFIX,
  58. followed by a new PREFIX key, followed by the ENTER key to
  59. define a new PREFIX.  If an invalid key is pressed for new
  60. PREFIX an error message will be spoken.  If the cursor keys
  61. are pressed the choice will cycle through the function keys. 
  62. This New PREFIX key will stay in effect until either the
  63. computer is restarted or the new PREFIX is again redefined. 
  64. The new PREFIX key may be any Function Key (Function 1
  65. through Function 10) or any CONTROL-Function key combination,
  66. any ALT-Function key combination or any SHIFT-Function key
  67. combination.  The default Prefix is the Function 9 key.

  69. DESIGNATE NUMBER OF NON-SPACE DUPLICATE CHARACTERS TO COUNT
  70. PREFIX ALT-0 number-of-non-spaces ENTER
  71.  
  72.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the ALT-"0"
  73. combination, followed by a number using the top row number
  74. keys, followed by the ENTER key to designate the number of
  75. adjacent duplicate characters to trigger the beginning of a
  76. count.  If a number less than 4 is selected the count is
  77. automatically reset to 4, which is the default.  If adjacent
  78. duplicate characters have intervening spaces, all the
  79. characters are counted.  If a run of duplicates is terminated
  80. by any other character or the end of the line, the total is
  81. announced and counting begins again at 0.  Duplicate digits
  82. are never counted.
  83.  
  84. DESIGNATE NUMBER OF SPACES TO COUNT
  85. PREFIX ALT-9 number-of-spaces ENTER
  86.  
  87.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the ALT-"9"
  88. combination, followed by a number using the top row number
  89. keys, followed by the ENTER key to select the number of
  90. spaces to count.  While reading text, the number of adjacent
  91. spaces encountered is announced and counted until a nonspace
  92. character is encountered.  If "0" is selected, spaces are NOT
  93. counted or spoken.  If "1" is selected "space" is spoken for
  94. every space.  The default is "0".
  95.  
  96. ENTER REVIEW MODE
  97. PREFIX Function 10
  98.  
  99.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the Function 10 key to
  100. enter Review Mode.  It is only necessary to enter Review Mode
  101. when you wish to freeze the screen, and move the Review Mode
  102. cursor about the screen.  When Review Mode is entered, a
  103. Review Mode cursor is created at the same location as the
  104. real-time cursor.  When using a Video Voice search command in
  105. Review Mode, it is often useful to first use the HOME key to
  106. move the Review Mode cursor to the top row of the screen or
  107. active Video Voice window.
  108.  
  109. ENUNCIATE CONTENTS OF DESIGNATED VIDEO VOICE WINDOW
  110. PREFIX SHIFT-S w window-number ENTER
  111.  
  112.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the SHIFT-"s"
  113. combination, followed by the unshifted-"w" key (for WINDOW),
  114. followed by a top row number key from "0" through "9",
  115. followed by the ENTER key to enunciate the contents of the
  116. designated Video Voice window.  The designated Video Voice
  117. window need not be the active Video Voice window, but it must
  118. have been previously defined.  Video Voice window "0" is
  119. always the whole screen. The real-time cursor is not moved. 
  120. The default window-number is "0": the Whole Screen.

  122. ENUNCIATE CURRENT PARAGRAPH
  123. PREFIX SHIFT-S l
  124.  
  125.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the SHIFT-"s"
  126. combination, followed by the unshifted-"l" key to enunciate
  127. the whole current paragraph, regardless of the location of
  128. the cursor within the paragraph.  The real-time cursor is not
  129. moved.

  307. are sounded to indicate the row that was spoken.  The "[" key
  308. (left bracket) is an exception to the normal key pattern.

  332.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the SHIFT-"s"
  333. combination, followed by the END key to have Video Voice
  334. enunciate the row at the bottom of the screen.  This row is
  335. also known as row 25.
  336.  
  337. ENUNCIATE ROW AT TOP OF SCREEN
  338. PREFIX SHIFT-S HOME
  339.  
  340.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the SHIFT-"s"
  341. combination, followed by the HOME key to have Video Voice
  342. enunciate the row at the top of the screen.  This row is also
  343. known as row 1.
  344.  
  345. GET HELP
  346. PREFIX Function 1
  347.  
  348.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the Function key 1 to
  349. enter the Video Voice help menu system.  The main menu title
  350. will be spoken.  Use the cursor keys and letter keys to move
  351. through the help menus.  If no help files are found, or the
  352. help system is not in memory the program will speak an error
  353. message.
  354.  
  355. LEAVE REVIEW MODE
  356. ESCAPE

  358.      Press the ESCAPE key to leave Review Mode.

  360. MOVE REVIEW MODE CURSOR DOWN ONE CHARACTER
  361. (in REVIEW MODE) DOWN-CURSOR

  363.      While in Review Mode, press the DOWN-CURSOR key to move
  364. the Review Mode cursor to the SAME COLUMN in the following
  365. row.  A two-tone descending beep is sounded to indicate the
  366. new row.  The new character is spoken.

  368. MOVE REVIEW MODE CURSOR TO BOTTOM OF SCREEN
  369. (in REVIEW MODE) END

  371.      While in Review Mode, press the END key to move the
  372. Review Mode cursor to the first column of the bottom row of
  373. the screen or active Video Voice window.  A low-pitched beep
  374. is sounded to indicate the bottom of the screen or active
  375. Video Voice window.  The word "bottom", and the contents of
  376. the new row are spoken.

  378. MOVE REVIEW MODE CURSOR TO DESIGNATED COLUMN IN CURRENT ROW
  379. (in REVIEW MODE) f c column-number ENTER
  380.  
  381.      While in Review Mode, press the unshifted-"f" key (for
  382. FIND), followed by the unshifted-"c" key (for COLUMN),
  383. followed by a number from "1" through "80" using the top row
  384. number keys, followed by the ENTER key to move the Review
  385. Mode cursor to the designated column on the current row.  The
  386. character at the new column is spoken.  If a Video Voice
  387. window is active (rather than the whole screen) and the
  388. designated column is outside the active Video Voice window,
  389. an error message is spoken.

  391. MOVE REVIEW MODE CURSOR TO DESIGNATED MARKER
  392. (in REVIEW MODE) f m marker-number ENTER
  393.  
  394.      While in Review Mode, press the unshifted-"f" key (for
  395. FIND), followed by the unshifted-"m" key (for MARKER),
  396. followed a top row number key from "0" through "9", followed
  397. by the ENTER key to choose the marker to move the Review Mode
  398. cursor to.  If the desired marker has previously been set
  399. with the DEFINE MARKER command, the Review Mode cursor will
  400. move to the location of the designated marker.  A beep is
  401. sounded to indicate the row to which the Review Mode cursor
  402. has moved.  The contents of the new row are spoken.  If the
  403. designated marker does not exist, an error message is spoken. 
  404. If a Video Voice window is active (rather than the whole
  405. screen) and if the designated marker is outside the active
  406. Video Voice window, an error message is spoken.
  407.  
  408. MOVE REVIEW MODE CURSOR TO DESIGNATED SCREEN ROW
  409. (in REVIEW MODE) f r row-number ENTER
  410.  
  411.      While in Review Mode, press the unshifted-"f" key (for
  412. FIND), followed by the unshifted-"r" key (for ROW), followed
  413. by a number from "1" through "25" using the top row number
  414. keys, followed by the ENTER key to move the Review Mode
  415. cursor to the left most column of the designated row.  A beep
  416. is sounded to indicate the new row.  The contents of the new
  417. row are spoken. If a Video Voice window is active (rather
  418. than the whole screen) and if the designated row is outside
  419. the active Video Voice window, an error message is spoken.

  421. MOVE REVIEW MODE CURSOR TO DESIGNATED TEXT
  422. (in REVIEW MODE) f t text-to-find ENTER
  423.  
  424.      While in Review Mode, press the unshifted-"f" key (for
  425. FIND), followed by the unshifted-"t" key (for TEXT), followed
  426. by the text you want to find, followed by the ENTER key to
  427. move the Review Mode cursor from the current location to the
  428. first character of the next occurrence of the designated
  429. text.  Press the unshifted-"f" key, followed by the
  430. unshifted-"t" key, followed by the ENTER key to search again
  431. for the last designated text.  A beep is sounded to indicate
  432. the new row.  The contents of the new row are spoken.  If the
  433. designated text is not found, an error message is spoken. 
  434. The text search is not case specific.
  435.  
  436. MOVE REVIEW MODE CURSOR TO FOLLOWING CHARACTER
  437. (in REVIEW MODE) n, or
  438. (in REVIEW MODE) RIGHT-CURSOR
  439.  
  440.      While in Review Mode, press the unshifted-"n" key or the
  441. RIGHT-CURSOR key to move the Review Mode cursor to the
  442. following column in the same screen or active Video Voice
  443. window.  The character at the new Review Mode cursor location
  444. is spoken.  If the Review Mode cursor is in the right most
  445. column of the screen or active Video Voice window, the Review
  446. Mode cursor will move to the left most column of the
  447. following row.

  453. (period) to move the Review Mode cursor to the first

  455. spoken.  The new paragraph may begin on any following row;
  456. descending beeps are sounded.  If there is no following
  457. paragraph, a beep is sounded.

  459. MOVE REVIEW MODE CURSOR TO FOLLOWING ROW
  460. (in REVIEW MODE) ] (right bracket), or
  461. (in REVIEW MODE) CONTROL-DOWN-CURSOR, or

  468. row are spoken.  The ENTER key also moves the Review Mode
  469. cursor forward one row, but only in Review Mode.  The "]" key
  470. (right bracket) is an exception to the normal Video Voice key

  515. MOVE REVIEW MODE CURSOR TO PREVIOUS ROW

  517. (in REVIEW MODE) CONTROL-UP-CURSOR

  519.      While in Review Mode, press the "[" key (left bracket)
  520. or the CONTROL-UP-CURSOR combination to move the Review Mode
  521. cursor to the left most column of the previous row.  A

  1134. provided to "re-attach Video Voice to its port".  All control
  1135. sequences to command the synthesizer are sent again to the
  1136. synthesizer when it is initialized.  This command works best
  1137. if the synthesizer is first turned off, then turned back on,

  1576. row number "2" key turns the Graphics "OFF".  When graphics
  1577. is on the (decimal) ASCII value for all graphics characters
  1578. encountered will be spoken.  Otherwise all graphics
  1579. characters are treated like spaces.  The Graphics default to
  1580. "OFF".

  1582. TOGGLE NUMERIC SPEECH FORMAT
  1583. PREFIX ALT-4 1-or-2 ENTER
  1584.  
  1585.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the ALT-top row number
  1586. "4" key combination, followed by a top row number "1" or "2"
  1587. key, followed by the ENTER key to toggle between speaking
  1588. multi-digit numbers as millions, thousands, hundreds, etc.,
  1589. and speaking them one by one.  The top row number "1" key
  1590. turns the speaking as millions "ON" and the speaking one by
  1591. one off, and the top row number "2" key turns the speaking as
  1592. millions "OFF" and the speaking one by one "ON".  Speaking as
  1593. millions defaults to "OFF".  This command is not available
  1594. for the Echo synthesizers.

  1596. TOGGLE READ ROW NUMBERS
  1597. PREFIX SHIFT-3 1-or-2 ENTER
  1598.  
  1599.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the SHIFT-top row
  1600. number "3" key combination (number sign), followed by a top
  1601. row number "1" or "2" key, followed by the ENTER key to
  1602. toggle reading row numbers whenever the cursor keys are used
  1603. to change rows in real-time mode, and during ALL row changes
  1604. in Review Mode.  The top row number "1" key turns the reading
  1605. "ON" and the top row number "2" key turns the reading "OFF". 
  1606. Read Row Numbers defaults to "OFF".
  1607.  
  1608. TOGGLE SPEECH CUT-OFF
  1609. PREFIX ALT-5 1-or-2 ENTER
  1610.  
  1611.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the ALT-top row number
  1612. "5" key combination, followed by a top row number "1" or "2"
  1613. key, followed by the ENTER key to toggle Speech Cut Off on
  1614. and off.  The top row number "1" key will turn the Speech Cut
  1615. Off "ON" and the top row number "2" key will turn the Speech
  1616. Cut Off "OFF".  When Speech Cut Off is on the synthesizer
  1617. will always halt speech at the press of the next key.  The
  1618. command is ineffective with synthesizers which do not have
  1619. instant shutup.  Speech Cut-Off defaults to "OFF".
  1620.  
  1621. TOGGLE TO ALTERNATE SYNTHESIZER
  1622. PREFIX SHIFT-7 1-or-2 ENTER
  1623.  
  1624.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the SHIFT-top row
  1625. number "7" key combination (ampersand), followed by a top row
  1626. number "1" or "2" key, followed by the ENTER key to toggle
  1627. between the Primary and the Alternate synthesizer.  The
  1628. synthesizer's port designation, configuration, and control
  1629. parameters are changed.  If you have not specified an
  1630. Alternate synthesizer in the GRCONFIG.YAK data file, the
  1631. Primary and Alternate synthesizers are the same.  The top row
  1632. number "1" key turns the Primary synthesizer "ON" and the
  1633. Alternate synthesizer "OFF", and the top row number "2" key
  1634. turns the Alternate synthesizer "ON" and the Primary
  1635. synthesizer "OFF".  Video Voice defaults to the Primary
  1636. synthesizer.

  1638. TOGGLE TYPEMATIC
  1639. PREFIX ALT-6 1-or-2 ENTER
  1640.  
  1641.      Press the PREFIX key, followed by the ALT-top row number
  1642. "6" key combination, followed by a top row number "1" or "2"
  1643. key, followed by the ENTER key to toggle between normal
  1644. typematic and disabling the normal typematic action.  The top
  1645. row number "1" key turns Typematic "ON" and the top row
  1646. number "2" key turns Typematic "OFF".  Typematic defaults to
  1647. "ON".

  1649. TOGGLE WRITING TO ROW ONE

  1656. to row 1 of the screen and leaving Writing-to-row-1 toggled
  1657. off.  The top row number "1" key turns Writing To Row One
  1658. "ON" and the top row number "2" key turns Writing To Row One
  1659. "OFF".  Writing-to-Row-One defaults to "OFF".
